I have been in the education field for twenty three years. I have held the following positions, Special Education Teacher in inclusion, resource and self-contained; School Counselor, middle school and high school. I moved to Alabama from Mississippi six years ago. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and have worked as interpreter/liaison for my school's Spanish community in Mississipi. I am thrilled to be part of The Chickasaw School Family.
My dream since middle school was to work with children in the school setting. I see children in the elementary setting as little caterpillars that absorb and learn from everything they are exposed to. When those children are in middle school- questioning everything, learning about themselves- I see them as creating their cocoons, and building their identities. When they become high school students, they break out of their cocoons and start trying their wings preparing to fly. I feel blessed because life has afforded me the gift of witnessing the journey of many little caterpillars and their transformation into beautiful butterflies.
